so i'm in this bible study where right now we're focusing on how good thinking positive is for your life. basically "negative thinking equals a negative life, positive thinking equals a positive life." yeah. i agree. you're not supposed to get worked up about the little things. be positive, trust in God and everything will turn out.

so today i'm out cleaning the car and my little j somehow locks the door and shuts it. with the keys inside. normally, not a big deal. but right now, the only extra set of keys i own happens to be inside my purse. which i left at a restaurant in colorado last monday. along with my wallet, my checkbook, my camera, my identification, insurance cards, etc. etc.

i tried really hard to think positively about the purse, and lo and behold, when we got home, there was a message from a guy who said he found it and he would send it back. i eagerly await the mail each day...thinking positively "oh, well, i'm sure it will come tomorrow." i think there's a fine line between thinking postive and being an optimist with "sucker" written on her forehead. let me know if you think i crossed it.

now i must think positively about the keys. i'm sure they will arrive in the mail tomorrow with my purse and all its contents. and if they don't i'm REALLY SURE they'll arrive the next day, maybe with a note of apology for taking so long.

right???

i don't think the idea is that thinking positive means God will deliver your wishes like a vending machine.

i think it means that thinking positive will make you endure the suffering in a Godly manner because he works all things for good.

:) perhaps we need to reread a couple of those chapters.

Yeah, you were freaking me out a little bit. The whole positive thinking thing sounds a lot like the crap being sold in "The Secret."

oh. trust us. this is not the "secret" we are studying.

Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. the Word that says what we speak has POWER. and from the heart comes the REAL us, so we should measure our words AND our thoughts.

so we are fine. no worries, right Care?

Good stuff. Joyce came to our church in Germany. She is a powerhouse of a Christian, let me tell you. She actually scared me a little, she was just so full of the Holy Spirit.

I wanna be like that.

i would highly recommend the Joyce Meyer amplified bible, just went on the market this spring.

i bought it as my first real grownup bible, and i LOVE it. lots of Joyceisms in the midst of the amplified version, which i like also because it is more explanatory.

i want to be joyce too, except for the crazy Southern lady outfits and the trucker voice.

maybe i'll be Beth Moore :)
