it hasn't been a good week for pets around here.

our big 10 year old crabby cat, Zoe, has been missing since july 4. i keep thinking she's just mad that we went on vacation, and she'll come home...but she's still not home. i'm not sure she's coming back. we all feel horrible, but we aren't giving up. maybe this time she was just REALLY mad. maybe?

the second kicker is with our black lab. she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia this week. she is having a hard time walking right now, and the vet said there is really nothing they can do short of hip replacement surgery (which we are actually considering...she is family, after all). she's on some meds now, and we're trying to take it easy on her. it's hard, because she lives to fetch. and she is an ace hunting dog...i'm not sure what this season will be like for her, or the husband. i told him we could get a puppy and start training it so he'll have a hunting partner, but his face went all sad and he said no. he just can't do that to sidney. they are pretty tight, and sidney is about the best dog on the planet.

so...it's been a sad week. if you have a pet, give it a hug and a pat right now from us. and if you see zoecat, send her home. we miss her.

Awwwww, I never knew what pet people were like until I lost my Sadie. Man, we miss her. I will keep an eye out for the kitty and send a prayer or two up for the pup.

aw care. damn it all, i was hoping that things would turn out better. for BOTH zoe and sid.

i will pray that zoe is just on a big ole excursion, and i do think sid deserves the surgery :)

love her up for me, okay?

We will be thinking of you, our cat was missing this week for 1 whole day. You never know cats are very fickle. You will make the right choice about Sid, you are right they really become like family

Aw, crap buddy. I wouldn't have understood this before Diggy, but I can't imagine life without her now. Forget college for the kids, get Sid the operation.

My heart goes out to you guys. Pets become so much a part of the family, and we really realize it when they're missing or sick. I still miss my big chocolate lab. I know you guys will make the right decision for Sidney. She is one awesome dog. I'm thinking of ya. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Oh, you know I get it! I would most likely take out a loan for surgery for my dogs. I am worried Rooby will develop that one day. Here's a story for ya, My mom's cat Bo disappeared for several weeks. Just when mom thought she wasn't ever coming back, she returned very upset. Mom thinks she got stuck in someones garage. She wouldn't leave the property after that. I hope Zoe comes back soon!

i remember when we lost our FAVORITE big cat nammed Tigger when i was a teenager. it was fall, and our cats always disappeared in hunting season.

we were so happy when he showed up in the window well during a blizzard in december. he looked a little different, but we were super happy to have him back. the charade continued until the spring, when our neighbor came by and said "oh, so THAT is where my cat ended up."

who knows where zoe cat is currently residing ;))
