hate to do this to you all again, but i gotta. the sdsu jackrabbits RULE THE WORLD :) we went to the hobo day game on saturday and they came back from a 21-6 deficit to win 22 to 21. it was so fun to watch, i yelled like a college kid. one of the more sober ones, but still. anyway, the real story wasn't so much the game (over 15,000 people there). the real story here is how funny it is to go back to hobo days 15 years after college. my husband and i ran into quite a few of the old football players from back in the day, but they weren't quite in the same hobo day mode most of you fondly remember. we sat and stood by a little group of them...and their children. yes, all of them brought their kids and i seemed to be the only wife along for the ride. it was funny to watch. one of them had his daughter and his 8 month old son with him, the wife was back home. he wiped boogers, changed a diaper, fed the little guy a bottle, controlled a stroller and kept his kids from getting plowed over in the end zone...all on his own. without a beer in sight.
after the game, we dropped by my nephew's house to say hi, where a party was definitely about to get started. my sons were dancing like little party animals to the thumping sound system (today they are powered up by Ipods) and i was busy checking out what the young people are wearing these days. a lot has changed (including the color of jello...jello shots now come in cool colors like turquise blue and lime green) but so much has stayed the same. the big linebackers still love to sing loud country songs, the girls still try to drink for free and the only thing cool about relatives stopping by after the game is if they bring beer or buy food.
we left before things really got rolling, and ended up on hobo night at mcdonald's with our kids. then i took my old football player home, and we were asleep by 11. funny. isn't that about the time we were used to be ready to go out for the night?

This is classic. So many memories. We are getting older, but we used to know how to have a REALLY good time. I think that we still know how to have fun, but it requires singing the theme from Sponge Bob.
Will need to bring my old Jackrabbit out for a game one of these days...
