smackdown.

i played in a volleyball tournament with some of my favorite montroseans all day saturday, we took third place but really played better than we ever have. it was a fun day. i just wish i could go back in time about 25 (cripes) years and have a DO OVER when it comes to high school sports. i didn't make the volleyball team my freshman year at rapid city stevens and was too embarrassed to ever try again. after the volleyball flop, i tried out for the dance team (which is seriously, seriously funny) and didn't make that either. then i went out for track and they made me run the freaking MILE when i was supposed to be a sprinter. hey, i can take the hint. oh, i was also in a really bad play where i had to wear a tie die shirt and no shoes and reinact the assasination of jfk. pretty sure that was karen's idea.

then i decided to just get a job and a car and quickly became the girl who drove everyone to the kegs in the woods. (just kidding if you are my mom)

but honestly, i think somewhere inside me, there could have been an athlete. maybe not an athlete, but at least a PLAYER. i CAN serve that stupid ball over. i CAN jump up and tip it and block it and i bet if i would have had a coach and a chance i could have played the heck out of that volleyball.

IF.

grrrrr. i hate that word.

I know exactly how you feel-I think we both got left behind in the sports thing at the same time. Only they wanted me to run the 2 miles! I so which I could find a volleyball team here, have been just to busy with classes the last 3 years. Maybe now is the time

You haven't mentioned the real distraction, buddy. It starts with a B.

Also, I remember that horrid, horrid dance team tryout. Dear Lord, we were out before we even went in there (even if we had been able to dance). What were we thinking?

I think you would have been a great volleyball player, but man, that might have put a serious crimp on our keggers-in-the-woods (just kidding if you are Carey's mom) time, which mostly, come to think of it, was getting-lost-while-looking-for-keggers-in-the-woods.

Well, G specifically, but BOYS generally. We wasted a lot of time on boys..

I remember that play, think it was Karen's idea and it was because of a A boy. Just think of the play as being way ahead of its time. Just remember who was your friend before the car and getting lost at keggers:) By the way I don't remember the trying out for the dance team, must be like my short lived career as a football cheeleader

I only vaguely remember the play, but yeah, sure it was my stupid idea. I do think the shirts were cool, though. Cooler than big grape costumes, at any rate.

maybe if the dumb PE teacher who kept letting me be the last one picked would have been "let go" - I could have been athletic too!

i mean, as long as we're what if'n.
