so this is just a small fraction of the people attending my husband's family reunion this past weekend in kansas. all of these people were on his dad's side, and i had never met most of them. the maroon shirts were his uncle's family, the yellow shirts were some of our family (meaning my husband's dad's kids and their kids). in all, there were about 120 people. some of us rode the float in a parade. there were also blue shirts, purple shirts, red shirts and a green shirt for the nun, who obviously had no kids.
it was a really great time, and i'm so glad we went. i was able to see the whole other side of my husband--his dad's side. i never got to meet his dad, since he passed away when my husband was in high school. his dad had 5 brothers and sisters, and they all had tons of kids. so my husband has dozens of cousins he had never even met before. as you can kind of tell from the photo, most everyone has dark hair, dark skin and dark eyes. my blondies really stuck out in the crowd, and any other blondes were married into the family just like me.
there were lots of athletic, good looking men and gorgeous glossy haired women. i even saw some square heads down there--now i know where my husband gets it.
while we were there we got to go "the farm" where there were baby kittens and chickens and peacocks and four-wheelers and acres of green land. the boys really had a blast. by the time we left, i was hugging the relatives (yes really) and telling them to please come to south dakota to visit. i hope they do. i'm so blessed to be part of such a big, happy family.

Wow, buddy. Ten years ago I could have never, ever imagined you writing that about the huge, intimidating Grosdidier family...or the hugs. You've come a long way!

Holy cats that is a big family - so cool to be able to meet them.
Now you can start doing genealogy with me to track the bazillion Grosdidiers in the word and we will have lots and lots of fun.

Sus, I have a little history and know that they came from Germany and France and that the French pronounciation is "Gro Di Jey" Carey GroDiJey. Doesn't that sound fancy?

Wow, that is a lot of huggin you must have had to do. I am glad you did it happily though. I am also glad you had a great time. I'm so happy for you, and glad it is all coming together.
