pied piper season is here.

every night since spring officially got here (5 days ago), our yard has been full of kids. they come from near and far for the main attraction: my husband.

i know it's my husband because they only show up after he gets home. right now the big theme is baseball. i think there were 9 kids playing here last night, catching, throwing and batting. not to mention various neighborhood dogs and the adults who casually stroll past and then stop to chat. good thing school is out next week, because it's getting harder and harder to come in the house before 8:30. after baseball, there were relay races around the house and then a huge "Awww, Mannnn" when big mean ME said it was time for the boys to come in and get ready for bed. after the kids all went home, i went around the yard and collected a pink baseball mitt, a yellow flip-flop, a Dora ball, a purple whistle and some plastic "jewels."

that's when it hit me. all the kids that come over here to play are GIRLS. every one of them.

i brought this up to the husband who laughed and said, "no kidding. i don't think i could ever coach little girls--did you hear how many times they chanted that "scoot your booty back" song? it would drive me crazy."

i just had to smile. i guess he doesn't realize that he already HAS been coaching little girls. and he loves every minute of it. i think he secretly even loves the scoot your booty back song.

it IS pretty catchy.

Hey could you imagine if we lived in the same neighborhood? My husband is the one that is always in the middle of the kid pile. All the kids call our house the "fun house"

Also...I am so going on itunes~~scoot your booty back???

he he

it's not an itunes song. it's a softball cheer.

something like "home run hitter up to bat, if i were you i'd scoot my booty back" and the little girls shake their booties and slide back two steps.

maybe i'll call and sing it to you.

Sing it for me, too!

Actually, I'm thanking God that nobody in AL knows that song. It's already stuck in my head and I've never even heard it.

What a happy time. Your husband has such a profound affect on those neighborhood kids lives, and like so many great things about him, he doesn't even realize it. You really did pick the right guy, didn't you!:)
