this quick post goes out to rani. she was the first "baseball" wife that came up and talked to me, and i remember thinking "this chick is funny." rani didn't have kids when i met her. i didn't have kids when i met her either.

since then i've watched rani rally back against cancer, have four kids, struggle along with me to understand how to be a better Christian, a better wife and a better mom. she has this funny idea that i have it all together. he he. after helping me clean out my kitchen yesterday, i think she's feeling a little better about her own organizational skills. she's got me talked into a fancy spice cabinet, for sure.

which leads me to this. thank you rani and ryan for this weekend. when you say the word "moving,' people generally run as far as they can. or maybe that's just me. however, ryan showed up on friday morning with his muscles and a sense of humor as he helped the husband lug the washer, dryer, stove, beds and all the other stuff i could not carry. dear rani first sent a big basket full of HOMEMADE salsa and garden goods and then showed up herself, wearing a kerchief in her hair and carrying a bag of cleaning supplies. she is da bomb. we cleaned away an afternoon, yakking the whole time. thank you thank you thank you rani.

i am taking a break today in an empty house, getting ready to go mow the lawn one last time. but first, i think i will crack open that salsa and a mountain dew. i will go sit on my empty back deck and enjoy our view of this beautiful town one last time.

sigh. i wish i could take it with me.

I am sighing with you, what a great story. A house is so much more than the materials it is built with. I know your new house and town will have wonderful future memories for you also

if you're intent was to get me to bawl, it worked.

You make me a better friend, Carey.
I love the Lord's timing in our lives and how he wrote our friendship into this world. If we could peek a couple of chapters ahead, I bet we would be pleased at where we will be going...together.

Yesterdays page was fun, I enjoyed visiting with you and finally being able to return a favor by helping you a tiny bit. I would do it again anyday.

I hope you enjoyed your last mow of the lawn because you haven't seen the last view of this town, for sure, next time it will just be from someone else's back porch.

See you tomorrow for some more yakking...church is out at 9 am is that too early?!?!?

Somehow I'd forgotten how hard it is to leave a home. My heart is with you as yours breaks a little, buddy. I promise roots grow in new soil. I'm proof, and I know you can do this.

Get Bobbi's newest This Old House mag--there is a beautiful two-page layout of a Craftsman-style kitchen. I want it for you.

I hope you enjoyed your time on the deck...I pictured you sitting out there and it made me smile. you loved that view. I love the memories you will always have of your house, of Montrose. Those are the greatest things you will bring with you. Mitchell will bring you chapters upon chapters of memories too.

Thanks, Rani for taking care of our Carey!!

Is it weird that I am crying right now for you, and I know this is an old post. I love you.
