big j is giving a three minute speech at school today. the teacher assigned him to payton manning, which you think would work out well but it was kind of tricky finding a colt's jersey in a steelers/broncos household. anyway, he has to BE payton manning and give the speech about himself in first person.
here is the funny thing i noticed.
we would have him practice his speech on us each night. he does a pretty good job, despite the fact that he kind of rocks back and forth on this feet and swallows a lot.
but each night, as he delivered his three minute speech, he would add some other fact that we hadn't heard before, something kind of off the wall that would make me question if he was making it up or if that was really something that was true about payton manning.
then i realized that he was trying to make the speech more interesting to us, since we had heard it several times before. he was...EMBELLISHING. and doing a very good job of it.
hmmm. wonder where he got that from?

wow. just got back from listening to some of these speeches. i feel like the future of america is in good hands. these 3rd graders are dynamic, creative, confident and very, very sweet. one of the girls was elvis and she sang her intro, talked with an elvis drawl, swiveled her hips and ended with "thankyouthankyouverymuch."
big j did just fine. got a 90%, she said he could have used a better intro. he stared with "hi. i'm payton manning."
:)

funny! That is you. He did keep your interest though, didn't he! :))
I so love hearing how your jboys are growing into themselves.
Finally catching up today on blogs. All is fine.. been too distracted by these glimpses of spring, basketball games, and ski trips. ;)
Enjoy your weekend!
