i have a good friend who always hosts me. she has this great kitchen where people gather around her center island, and then she just stands there pouring drinks and dishing out amazing food while my kids disappear downstairs, never to be seen or heard from again.

it's awesome.

tonite, i have decided to host her. i initially invited her over for "a beer" so she could check out my kitchen tile and we could talk about her upcoming tiling project. low key, no pressure. then she texted back "i will bring dip."

dip?

oh. right. we might want some food to go with that "a beer".

chips, dip and a beer. but what if she wants something sweet? i will make some cookies. what if she is on a diet? i will put out a veggie tray. what if she doesn't want beer? i will get a bottle of wine. maybe two kinds of beer--a light and a dark. and maybe bottled water. that should do it.

i will also make a cheese and a veggie pizza in case "a beer" turns into "a dinner."

and there is a chance her husband's baseball practice might be canceled since it is snowing out. that means he will come over too. i better get some more chips, he loves chips. and maybe some bread sticks. and more beer.

and both kids will come if there is no baseball, which means we have to stash all the pets since her son is very allergic. and i also better de-fuzz the house with a serious vacuuming and dusting. and they might want some different snacks to eat. better pick up some fun little treats.

i better get going. i have to get ready to have a beer with one of my very good friends tonite.

:)

I agree with Karen, entertaining skills take practice. So how did it go?

You sound so organized! I am the worst entertainer. I never know what to make, what to have, when to serve it, etc. I need to take lessons from you and Karen...entertainers of the year!
