i have figured out that wednesday is my day of maximum productivity. monday is too hard because it's monday. tuesday i'm kind of getting into it, i get quite a lot done. but wednesday. wednesday is halfway to the weekend and i better start cranking out the work or i will end up working the weekend. i'm up early, i get to it, i work hard and i feel good at the end of wednesday.

then comes thursday. you know, i worked really hard on wednesday. maybe i can slack off a little on thursday. by friday, forget it. i'm toast by noon. i guess it's a good thing i am a freelancer or i would be fired. for the record, i have never missed a deadline...thank you wednesday. :)

anywhoo. how about a little randomness to top off my slacking on a thursday?

*funny story from the coach (also known as the husband). he's got a really little kind of nerdy dude on his team, and this kid's mom is super helicopter mom. always wants to talk to coach about her kid, always butting into practice, even coming over to our house to discuss issues. (sidenote: don't be this mom). so coach is getting his team all fired up to win. he says "we're gonna fight hard!" team responds "YEAH!!" "we're not going to quit, we're going to give it our all." "YEAH!" "and when we finish this season, we're going to celebrate with a pizza party!" "YYYYYEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!" little hand goes up and a nasally voice says "coach, i can't have pizza. wheat allergies."

*we are watering the sort-of lawn by pumping water out of the lake. one side is coming in really nice and green, but the hordes of grasshoppers are eating it all on the field side and it looks pathetic. so we are watering away, trying to keep the hoppers out. when you walk out our door, it smells like fresh fish. it is driving the cats crazy.

*i had the dream last night where i spit out all my teeth. this is one of those re-occuring dreams that always happens when i am stressed. the only thing is, i can't figure out what i am stressed about. perhaps the stress hasn't happened yet and my dreams are preparing me? now THAT stresses me out. what in the heck is going to happen?

*little j has an obsessive personality. when he gets something in his mind, it is all you hear about. he throws everything he has into the project and won't quit until he's reached his goal. i love it, but wow. the kid is saving up for an ipad. he made business cards and had them printed through a website--250 of them announcing Josh's Pet Care Company. he will take care of pets while people are out of town, water plants, do odd jobs. i am nervous because i know that his little company can't operate without me. we spent all sunday afternoon knocking on doors and delivering business cards. one house said they would like to hire him to come this winter and walk their dog before and after school because it will be too cold for the lady who owns the dog. you know what this means for me, right? argh. have i mentioned how much i hate early mornings? and how much i hate being cold? and how hard it is to get little j out of bed?

*on that same note, little j's school is selling raffle tickets for a quarter each. again, he wants to win the prize. sigh. we have spent the last two nights schlepping raffle tickets. i admire his motivation but just wish i didn't have to be part of the plan. you know? by the way...want to buy a raffle ticket?

*big j is also supposed to sell raffle tickets. when asked by his grandma greta last night if he wanted to sell her some, he replies, "not really. i plan on being the guy who owns the company. sales isn't really my thing." yes. he is the next generation, isn't he?

*the hound is getting ready for her first season of hunting. we have been practicing her skills so the husband will be proud of her. i can't wait to see his face when she comes running to him proudly carrying a grasshopper. doh.

*i guess i better get on with my thursday. i have exactly 4 hours to finish 8 hours worth of work. too bad it isn't wednesday.

who said catching grasshoppers isn't a skill. Especially if she doesn't eat them as Luna May does. Once again our children could be swapped. We were out tonight selling cookie dough to house who have to sell their OWN cookie dough, because small fry wants that lucky duck plastic thingy mabob. Get some more fleece for your morning walking:)

So...on Wednesday you could pose as me and get a valid driver's license. Right??

Big J totally cracks me up. What a mind!

I like the idea of Slacker Thursday. I wish we could slack together.
