a few weeks ago i introduced the boys to ferris bueller's day off...just in time to understand the superbowl reference. they loved it. they want to buy the movie and watch it over and over.

i realized my kids were missing some of the best things about the 80s and 90s, so we have been watching things like footloose (the old version), pretty in pink, 16 candles. they are calling them "olden" day movies, which hurts me. however, if that's the case, we can call our movie dates history lessons and i feel pretty good about myself.

last night they watched an episode of friends...the reason for thursday nights back in college. we caught the "smelly cat" episode and my kids were rewinding it over and over. they were singing it on their way to bed. i was so proud. but mostly...

i couldn't wait to tell karen and chris.

When they are a little older try Stand by Me. I think that has been one of my best movie nights with Big Fry

I seriously just went to Blockbuster in search of a John Hughes film to watch with the Monkey tonight. I came home with nothing. Breakfast Club doesn't have enough action, I couldn't get past "no more yanky my wanky," and I'll bet he could care less about Pretty in Pink.

Duh. I'm going back for Ferris.

And Friends? Watch it with them now, because there will be a day (soon!) when you will have to ban it because they understand what's going on. I hate that day.

So....I heard, "I am going to do that in high school!" a grand total of seven times during the movie.

Otherwise, it was great mother/son bonding time.

They need to teach Berkley. Please make them teach Berkley. It will be my gift to Mike. :-)
