this is a story about the adventures of dog sitting. we are watching the husband's sister's dog for a month while they go to alaska. every time we go to their house, their dog just lays on the floor thumping his tail. really, how hard can this be? first, the funny part. we drive up and his whole left side is shaved. apparently he just had allergy tests and is allergic to everything. grass, bugs, mold, dust, everything. he requires multiple medications and is a scratchy, itchy, bumpy mess. but no matter, he's still a sweet guy. the thing is (and i wish i had a camera but i left it up there when we went to get the dog) our dog is all shaved on the left side too, and missing a leg. so when the two of them are both standing together showing off their left sides, it's kind of sad.
anyway. we bring him here and he suddenly turns into a bounding puppy, full of energy and ready to wreak havoc on my cats. he is obsessed with them, and i have not seen our crabby gray one for two days now. the other one is now also MIA, after the hard chasing that happened to him yesterday after i gave the dog a bath. i figured a little head and shoulders might help him with the itching and scratching.
however, the bath was for naught since i took him for a walk and our dog for a hobble and he managed to find himself a SKUNK.
sigh. yep. we will be taking ourselves another bath.

Hmmm. This could turn into book fodder. Adventures in Dog Sitting. Chapter one could be:
Half Naked Dogs
Chapter two could be:
Dog Meets Skunk
Can't wait for Chapter three!
8:50 AM
i hope it's not "He chased all our pets away and now we don't have any left!"

That is too funny, would make a good story from the dog's point of view!
6:23 PM
Chapter 3:
Dog Still Smells.
11:10 AM
Me thinks the old trick of bathing the dog in tomato juice to get the skunk smell out, does NOT apply here?
