art girls: help.

little j is a pack rat. he's also an avid artist and crafter. (kinda like you :)) we have to keep every picture he's ever drawn, every craft he's ever built. and he sometimes produces 3 or 4 masterpieces per day.

i am trying to figure out something we can do here. what are your thoughts on a giant corkboard wall in his room? too messy? too corky? too push-pinny? got any other ideas? he refuses to let me "store" his art in boxes. every piece is special. even the man-eating sunflower with blood dripping out of its fangs.

help me out here ladies.

while you're at it, i could use your help with my OTHER pack rat. the big one who won't let me throw away a tube of caulk that has about 3 oz. of caulk left in it. it's a good thing he's cute.

actually. ikea can help. they make a little cool looking wire thing with clips, that you could put on a wall in his room. i could help you figure out where :) it's an easy way to hang art, and he can always rotate the 'stuff' to have his very favorite thing hanging at all times!

i'm sure lou will agree.

One more idea...

They make magnetic paint. You could paint a wall of his room with it. You can paint a color over it also. Then you could make a cool magnet art project and hang all the art.

Secretly I am dying to use magnetic paint! It also comes in a magnetic & chalk board combo. Could be really cool!

oh kristie. i think it is destiny. i tried to order the cool wire thing from pottery barn (ikea was only available in the store) and the order would just not go through so i gave up.

magnetic paint. now THAT sounds like fun, with a chalkboard combo. all i need are a couple of volunteers to help little j design it...

I just did a little checking on the magnetic paint. I found that you have to do at least 3 coats. One lady did 5! It does also have a texture. When people wanted to get rid of if they had to sand down the wall. Not sure how you feel about putting it on a brand new wall. They do have the paint at home depot.

I did buy one of the wire art hangers last time I was ikea. I did not need it but of course I bought it anyway. It is still in the package. You can have it if you want. I even bought a box of extra clips. I can always get another when and if I figure out where to put it. Maybe I was supposed to buy it for you ;)

i think the husband would kill me if we had to sand down a wall. if you guys truly don't want your wire thingys, we will buy them from you. josh just brought home a mitten made out of an envelope, a portrait of his family playing hockey, a duck made out of a sock and a watercolor snowman. helppppp....
