oh, i missed getting in on all the "thankful" posts swarming Facebook and the blogs. but trust me, i'm thankful. we are very blessed with good health, a great family and more than enough to share. and thanks for being part of my life, i think i am up to 5 of you now :)
it is black friday today. i think this day is a pretty bad example of humanity, and it's too bad it follows on the heals of thanksgiving--which is designed to be a GOOD example of humanity.
i never, ever participate in black friday. but little j's ipad was destroyed in his car crash and he worked nearly a year to pay for it. i felt so bad for him i was willing to brave the "gray thursday" crowds last night to get in on a good ipad deal at wal-mart.
ick.
i wanted to turn around the second i walked in the door. there were lines wrapping allllllllll the way around the store and people hoarding huge carts of useless crap. useless crap that will pile up for garage sales by next summer, most likely. it was crazy.
little j and i took our place at the end of a four-mile ipad line and quickly realized we would not actually walk out of wal-mart with an ipad. we would walk out with a receipt and a code that would allow us to order one online with the promise that the ipad would arrive before Christmas.
we got out of line, bought the ipad that wasn't on sale and called it a night.
so much for getting a good bargain. but seriously. that was my first and last taste of black friday. to those of you who love the thrill of the hunt, more power to you. i just don't have that killer shopping instinct, i guess.
and for that i am very thankful ;)

I am a recovering Black Friday shopper, I think I went like twice and that was enough for me. Congrats on stepping out of line:)

I'm with you, buddy. I don't think I've ever done Black Friday. We did go to the mall today, to see Life of Pi, and I thought I was going to die of claustrophobia just walking to the theaters.
The WH took the boys at midnight, looking for deals on paintball guns. They got home at two, totally bummed and empty handed. The guns they wanted were $5 off..

ah yes. part of my thanksgiving was spent looking over the 'deals' in the newspaper with my parents. it's funny how deals make you want stuff you don't even want, isn't it?
i did go out to Lewis and buy a crockpot to replace my cracked one for $9. i was the only person in line there - apparently crock pots are not as popular as ipads!
i did order some stuff on cyber monday though, so i am not completely innocent :)
