i. am. in. a. slump.

i've been running faithfully (mostly) every other day since february. and suddenly, due to cirumstances beyond my control, i had a 5 day stretch where it just wasn't exactly convenient. and now, i don't wanna. at all. i am one month away from a half-marathon, and i cannot get myself going. i feel like i may not ever get going again.
in fact, this very blog post is a tactic to avoid running. tonite my husband is on late shift, which means to get the 6 miles in, i will have to hit the dreaded treadmill. so i sit here. and it sits in the next room. taunting me. perhaps i shall kick it.

but serioulsy. i'm worried. is this the end of the road...literally...for me? i just bought new running shoes last week, and now this. i could have had a pair of really senseless shoes instead.

no more running. huh. i can feel my butt spreading across the computer chair as i type it.

argh.

Been there. Almost every day lately, in fact. I soooo feel for you. You know what you need to do. You know it will be better after even one mile. Remember that bumper sticker I had in high school?? JUST DO IT.

Hey buddy...been there too. I know how you are feeling. I am ready to take a break after this Sunday race. But sometimes all it takes is getting past that first mile then it's like a routine again. Here's a bit of info that might inspire you again...went to the doctor last week for a yearly checkup. The nurse took my pulse and she said, "52. Are you a runner?" How did she know?? She said most people that run a lot have a lower heart rate, their heart doesn't have to work as much. I found this very interesting so she looked up my resting heart rate from a two years ago and it was 76! That's over 20 beats per minute. That really got me going. So even running just a few miles a day, or even every other day, is so awesome for your body. I always kind of knew this, but hearing it happening in your own body is pretty neat.

Just a little tidbit. Hope it helps. Love ya!!

No. We were COOL (or at least thought we were), and we didn't have to run b/c we were naturally skinny. Now we have to work for it, so get up and GO!!

i thought you girls ran for the joy of it, not for the butt size.

i think i would rather pay somebody to make my butt smaller, thank you very much :)

I agree with your fellow runners. It is all mental. Just tell yourself you just have to make it through the first mile and go from there. Good luck. I wonder what a walkers heart rate is?;)
