so it's been almost one week since the concession stand sugar fest, and i have stuck by my guns. no mountain dew. not a one. here is what i notice in life without pop:
*a sadness every afternoon around 2 pm, much akin to that of losing a limb. not that i've ever lost a limb, but i can imagine.
*a lack of productivity. those after-dew jitters don't let me sit down for hours. i get a lot of stuff done. the only thing that gives me this same "high" is a run, so i've been running whenever i get thirsty. ok, not really, but i should.
*a lack of things to drink. i don't have a "go-to" drink. i need one. what do you drink when you don't drink coffee, tea, pop, energy drinks, gatorade, powerade (or any type of "ade") and you don't enjoy water? all i have left is milk. that's not very fun.
*an increase in gum consumption. and you thought it wasn't possible.
* my rings spin all over my fingers. i think i'm dehydrated.
so there you have it. i don't know what i'm trying to say. i've made my point. pop is bad. but living without it isn't exactly a picnic. however, i'm not going back to the dark side. maybe THIS week is when i lose 10 pounds, have energy through the roof and begin to love the taste of H2O.
yeah. sure.

So, um, you just made a pretty good argument for drinking your daily cocktail. I vote you go back on the juice. Of course, I also vote that I keep drinking three cups of coffee a day, plus an occasional Starbucks, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

OK this is slightly insane but what do you expect from me?! How about drinking water differently. I cannot drink water straight out of a glass. Must. Have. Straw. I don't like water freezing cold. I like it tap cold. I don't mind icy, out of a water bottle when I workout. I like water bottles (and the straw) that makes the water move fast. And I drink when I am thirsty instead of forcing it. Water is never more boring than when I am NOT thirsty. Never been a real soda drinker and can't remember the last time I have had one so that isn't an issue... but I have learned to LOVE water. I even drink hot water when I am cold (like tea... only without the tea) in a mug. See. I know. Crazy. Told you.

um...have you tried a little lemon in your water?
Good luck!
can't. understand. people. who. don't. drink. water. it's. a. natural. detox:)

girl, you HAVE to drink water. that will take away the sadness, the sluggishness, and the gum.
do what annie says :)

ok. so cold water out of a straw with a lemon in it. that almost breaks my more than three steps cooking rule, but i suppose i can try it.
nice to hear from you anne. you're a little bit Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" but I love you anyway.

I would have the lemon ON THE SIDE.

agree with the water bottle...also i like the crystal light lemon hydrate flavor packets that you add to water?
OR~ really what's one Mtn. Dew??

I am not a big water fan either, BUT it takes two weeks to get into a habit, so just keep trying! When I can't stand water I drink bottled ice tea-the fruity flavors

Proud of you Carey, really am. I just know I don't want to be with out my one pop a day. I don't want to live without my three cups of coffee and starbucks on Friday. I love hot tea, decaf. I also love water. I drink out of my Life is Good water bottle at work. My goal is to fill it up at least twice i a day. I pee a lot....
