just when you were about to give up on me...

here i am.

he he.

the last time i wrote we were heading to colorado for a ski trip. we had fun, as always. tried out some new places but red lodge still rules my heart. other than that, march featured some great report cards, the beginning of tennis and baseball, practices for the summer hockey teams and NOT the green grass i was hoping to see.

which brings us to april.

still no green grass in sight and the lake JUST melted this week. last year at this time the boys had already been swimming in it. oh spring...get here already!

i guess since it's been so long i best just go random here with a little update on the household.

let's see. there's me. not much new there. i did just help with a fundraiser for the ice rink here in town and we raised $10,000 in one day. so that was cool. still doing all the same stuff i always do, but definitely looking forward to some biking/boating/kayaking this summer. we are mostly done with this giant project called a yard so there should be some time for fun. i'm all about that.

there is the husband. he's coaching little j's baseball team and big j's summer hockey team. nothing surprising there. i know he's looking forward to a summer that doesn't involve building retaining walls or planting grass. we do have to put in a sprinkler system this spring...hopefully i do NOT get involved with that.

big j. wow. big j is just blowing me away these days. has he ever blossomed. at this moment he's coming home from a jazz band competition. i think they took second place and got a spirit award. he's also practicing tennis every day after school and loving it, even if he's "not a tennis shark" like some of the older boys (his words not mine). doing summer hockey again, we'll see how that goes this weekend at his first tourney. to top it all off, i found a crumpled up award in his backpack that says "Middle School Outstanding Citizenship Award" at the top. the fact that he was too polite to brag on himself kind of fits the award, don't you think?

little j. his teacher called him "the whole package." there are days when i want to put a stamp on the package and mail it to China, but most days little j is my partner-in-fun. hockey is still his first love, second love, third love and actually ranks higher than disneyland. so there's that. he's also playing baseball this summer but pretty sure it's for the social aspect. all he really wants to do is play hockey. as far as school goes, little j has it whooped. people think big j is the brains of this family but it's actually little j. he just doesn't let on. it's all about street cred.

my best girl crosby dog has been having some problems with her legs, we did all kinds of tests and they found nothing. hopefully she pulled something and is just a drama queen. today she seems much, much better. a $200 vet bill always heals them by the next day.

wiener dog is still naughty but we decided we like him anyway. ha. he has a new fun habit of chasing birds and not coming back, so he's on a rope now when he goes outside. we have always had dogs that stay in the yard and come when we call...so we will just call this a challenge. i will say it again...it's a good thing he's cute.

sid is still plugging away. hard to believe it sometimes, but there she is.

so now it is dark outside and i should probably see if people are still alive around here. thanks for stopping by.
