karen is demanding a new post but i really have nothing of value to say. life is just rolling, for the most part. how about a little friday list?
*i signed up for the deadwood half marathon in june, despite the protests from my old back, my old hips and my old knees. i've been running about twice a week this month (outside, even when it's single digits) and it sure feels good UNTIL the next day. but i decided that it hurts whether i run or not so i might as well try the half one more time. it's my favorite one and i've got several friends on board this year. should be a good time, even if i die or end up crippled. ha.
*it is my favorite day outside--blue skies, white snow and is supposed to get about 30 degrees. and it's a friday. guarantee i won't be working past noon.
*a bunch of men from the hockey association built an awesome outdoor hockey rink in front of the indoor rink. it's got boards and nets and the zamboni keeps it nice. the place has been packed with kids every day and night--it's awesome to see. that's where we will be tonite. i love watching kids get out of a hard practice only to run outside to skate some more. sure beats video games and tv.
*crosby ate a bag of hair the other day. i was combing out both dogs and had a big bag of hair sitting next to me. next thing i hear is kind of a hacking sound and i turn around to see an empty bag and a yellow lab with black lab hair hanging off her lips. seriously. you can't make this stuff up.
*i am getting the itch to paint. perhaps it is because my mom is coming in february. funny how my urge to paint always coincides with her visits...
*little j and big j are trying to grow out their hair. little j's is looking kind of cute, but big j looks like a porcupine. he can thank his bushman father for that. the guy has hair that only grows UP, like marge simpson. the shorter the better, but we'll see if maybe we can make it lay flat after another inch or two. in the meantime, if you see big j, he did not just get out of bed.
*did i mention i had nothing of value to say? i warned you. this post is all karen's fault.
*happy weekend.

I LOVE this post!!! It's got all the right elements--chowed-down dog hair, porcupines and zero teenage angst. Thank you, it was good for my soul. :-)

anne, i could have told you about little j puking all over the back of my explorer wednesday morning and how it oozed between the seats and down into the seat belt cracks and how i'm not sure i got it all out because now my car stinks like old milk.
i thought dog hair would be easier to swallow.
ha ha. happy day!

first... i don't like using the word "swallow" when speaking of barf, dog hair or children. but i would rather swallow a child any day.. than contemplate anyone/thing eating dog hair. any. day.

i need you to talk about something pretty, or perhaps not talk at all :)

Love the post too!! The puking incident...ewww! Hope the smell is fading!
I entered the Deadwood half too. The early bird emails kept coming and so I just did it. I love this race too...love the whole environment. Excited to do it with ya!
I can't imagine the j boys with long hair! Must be that hockey look huh?!

Puking between the seats, now that is one I really would have wanted to hear!

See? Look at all the great comments! The best posts are always controversial and usually involve Bob asking you (or me) to be silent.
Do it again!
